losing your "crembo virginity" at a Mexican Party

i could apologize like i always do for hardly writing. but i won't. that gig has gotten old...

so Thursday night I had an awesome Mexican Dinner Party at my apartment with about 12 other friends from all parts of my life (in a good way). Beyond the yummy food and fun latin music, one of the best highlights of the night was my friend Rebecca losing her "Crembo Virginity" -- as in having the first Crembo of her life.

Litttle explanation side-note for those who are not familiar with Crembo. In Israel is it often referred to as the "warm ice cream" since it is pretty much only in stores in winter when it's "too cold" in Israel to have ice cream. It's never THAT cold here in winter, but it's also far from the sizzling summer heat that makes ice cream a must. Crembo is a sweet biscuit cookie with a pile of slightly lighter than fluff marshmallow-y sweet substance, and all of this is covered by a thin layer of chocolate. Now like the American Reese's peanut butter cup, there are many ways to eat a Crembo. Some prefer the fluffy marshmallow to the biscuit and eat the two parts in a particular order, others separate the parts and only eat one or the other... clearly it's a very personal preferance based experience. And while there are many Israelis that can't stand the stuff, there are at least that many that can down a plastic box of 8 Crembo'im without the slightest hint of nausea.

So, Rebecca, having only lived in Israel for the last few months (besides her various visits through all sorts of Jewish programs) had never experienced/eaten a Crembo. And so Thursday night was quite a momentous and memorable experience both for her, and for the rest of us as well shared the moment.

and then people decided it was ok to give Crembo to Shusha (my kitten)... Crembo is about as unatural as you can get in terms of ingredients... poor kitten! luckily she doesn't seem to be too affected by the experience.

ohhh Crembo.

Shusha's a great name for a kitten.. but Crembos (well, pretty much any sugar and chemicals concoctions) are sheer poison for cats.
